Hydrualic Fracturing – Hearing, Security, Regulations

Committee on Science, Space, and Technology Full Committee Hearing on Review of Hydraulic Fracturing Technology and Practices, May 11, 2011.

Witnesses at this hearing note the lack of evidence that hydraulic fracturing fluids contaminate drinking water.  This concern seems to be a reoccurring theme yet solid evidence for fracturing fluids causing drinking water contamination has not materialized.

New York City contends that the practice of hydraulic fracing poses a grave security threat to its unfiltered surface water supply, as reported here.

Further discussion of regulatory aspects of hydraulic fracturing can be found here.
