A serious discussion of climate and changes in climate is needed, not snarky comments about “climate deniers”.

“Gavin Schmidt has posted a commentary on the video of a talk I gave recently at Purdue University. I’m grateful for his attention and comments, as I’m always trying to improve my presentations. It seems that I failed to get my points across in some crucial places, so I’ve got work to do.

As part of that work, I offer below some responses to Schmidt’s comments . I have reformatted his original text as block quotes and removed figures to improve the readability of this response. I’ve also, without changing meaning, removed some of his snark, which has no place in a serious discussion.

“Climate change” is not endangering the planet, but climates change

“Climate change is not a hoax, but as a political matter, it is a persistent pretext for expanding government control over the economy, redistributing wealth, and empowering unaccountable elites at the expense of voters and their elected representatives. This pretext rests on three falsehoods:

  1. Science has determined that climate change is a “planetary emergency”—a rapidly unfolding global catastrophe.
  2. A panoply of market-rigging interventionist policies, called “climate solutions” by their proponents, can deliver meaningful climate protection at reasonable cost.
  3. Only deluded science deniers or greedy polluters oppose such policies.

In fact, climate change does not endanger the survival of civilization or the habitability of the planet. So-called climate solutions are bureaucratic power grabs and corporate welfare schemes with no detectable climate-related benefits. Opposition to such policies is prudent regardless of one’s views on climate science.” click here

Confusion over just how long until the world ends from “climate change”

Politicians, media continue to misrepresent climate changes

“Time and time again, media outlets and our elected officials misrepresent various social, economic, and/or environmental issues in order to boost their ratings, gain political power, and/or create mayhem and hysteria among their viewers and constituents, respectively. The climate change debate is no exception, as the issue is constantly conveyed to the public eye as a ‘crisis,’ when in fact, good scientific analysis and data say otherwise.” click here

Why socialism is bad for public health and the environment

“According to conventional Marxist-Leninist dogma, environmental deterioration was precipitated by the logic of capitalism and its relentless pursuit of profits.” Socialism, on the other hand, would avoid capitalism’s excesses. “Guided by ‘scientific’ principles, socialism’s goal was a classless and bountiful society,” they explained, “populated by men and women living in harmony with each other and the environment.” click here

The most effective action to address “climate change”…is to take no action.

“Some voices are well-intentioned but wrongheaded. Some voices use climate as a stalking horse for their real agenda — i.e., system change to socialism. Some see business or “rent- seeking” opportunities in climate alarm. Some go along with climate out of political correctness.

As we have shown — and have done so exclusively through the voices and reports of climate alarmists — there is absolutely no reason for any Republican to offer a plan to “combat climate change.” Such a plan, if enacted would accomplish nothing good for American or the climate.” click here

Did EU elections result in a “Green Victory”? The answer is no.

“Now that the dust of Europe’s election has settled and the numbers are in, it is possible to get a clear picture of what exactly happened.

If you believe the green-socialist dominated media in Europe, you’d think the Greens came up the big winners, and so no time should be wasted in implementing a rapid green transformation of human society.

But a fact check tells this is not the case at all.” click here
